Features

  • The energy level tracker was added to the mood tracker. Track your energy levels and see how your new habits affect them.
  • Automatic habit time blocking is here with the option to schedule habits at a specific time of day added to the habit settings. If the habit is recurring on the day, it will show automatically in the calendar at the time set, no need to time block it manually.
  • You can now also set how much time the habit will take to complete each day in the habit settings. When set, it will affect how long the habit appears in the calendar.
  • Notebooks can now be marked as password-protected. All notes in Lunatask are end-to-end encrypted by default. Additionally, you can now require a master password to be entered every time a private notebook is accessed for an extra level of security, for example, in case someone would find your computer unlocked on your desk while you make a coffee in the kitchen. Notes from password-protected notebooks can still be found using the search, but do not show in All Notes.
  • Alternative accent color options are now available for the light appearance. In the settings, you can now pick from 4 different themes — blue, light grey, dark grey, and pink.

Improvements

  • Habit settings were moved from the right-click menu into a separate modal
  • General settings were restructured and the various options are now grouped by the part of Lunatask they affect
  • Settings menu was restructured a bit as well and the badge showing active end-to-end encryption was added
  • Note's notebook is now shown in the note header not just in All Notes, but also when in a different notebook than the one the note belongs to
  • Today skipped habits in the habit widget are now stored serverside and synced across all the devices
  • A button to create either a new habit or a new habit group was added to the habit tracker header
  • A button to create a new habit directly inside a selected habit group was added to the habit group header. No need for the two-step process of creating a new habit outside any habit group and then moving it in the right place.
  • Explanatory messages guiding users on how to use certain functionality or explaining what a setting will affect were added throughout the app
  • The button to access notebook settings was moved from the notebook picker dropdown next to the notebook name and note list sorting picker
  • Notebook name in the note header is now clickable and switches the selected notebook
  • The color of neutral emotions in the mood tracker was changed from grey to light blue due to contrast issues, especially in the dark mode
  • Scrollbars were removed completely from Windows and Linux versions. Since the early days, no scrollbar was ever shown in the habit tracker and the calendar. Since we received no complaints, in this release we are removing them from everywhere. Please, reach out if this poses a problem for you.
  • A tooltip was added to priority icons on tasks
  • Onboarding guide explaining Time Blocking was added
  • Welcome screen after the user signs up for the first time was improved
  • "Integrations" settings were renamed to "Connected Apps"

Lunatask is now available on the Mac App Store. Due to Apple's policy of not accepting applications that did not reach version 1.0 yet into the store, we are releasing Lunatask v1.0. This version is otherwise identical to the latest build of v0.12.

  • Support for Time Blocking workflow has been added by allowing users to drag tasks onto the calendar. The calendar will automatically calculate the time needed to complete a task based on its estimate. Improvements

  • Task scheduling is now available also in By motivation grouping, therefore making it available in all groupings
  • Scheduled tasks for which the date is already here or in the past are now shown on top of the list. Previously, when the date came, the tasks were moved automatically to their previous status (or Next), possibly out of sight. Now it's up to you to decide what to do with such a task when the time comes.

  • Added menu option to clear all local data. This resets the local installation of Lunatask clearing all data and configuration (it does not delete any data in your account). Might be useful sometimes in a case when the application ends in an error state. Usually, sign out should do the same thing.
  • In our quest to be a privacy-focused tool, we removed Google Analytics from our website to prevent Google from tracking our users
  • More consistent area icon sizes in the menu

The latest update brings Lunatask one step closer to become an open platform, as well as it brings updates to task list, habit tracker, and enhanced security.

Features

  • Added support for custom lists (we name them Areas of Life). When you sign up for Lunatask, your two default areas (personal and work-related tasks) will be still present, however, with Lunatask 0.6, you can add your own. Working for multiple clients or want to track education-related tasks separately? No problem with our new custom Areas of Life.

  • Added developer-friendly Public API. Those more tech-savvy among you, you can now build integrations that will bring tasks from your favorite tools into Lunatask automatically. This is a foundation to make Lunatask an open platform and going forward you can expect some native integration as well!

  • Added Idea Voting Portal which serves as a public roadmap where you can see and influence what we build next Improvements

  • Habit Tracker now shows your record streak for each habit to keep you motivated to beat your past record. Streak calculation was also rewritten to take habit recurrence into account.

  • Enabling us to build Public API and future integrations we rewrote the end-to-end encryption which protects your data. Previously, AES-256-GCM+PBKDF2 algorithms were used. Starting with 0.6 the cryptography algorithms used are Curve25519+XSalsa20+Poly1305+argon2id. Accounts created with earlier versions of Lunatask will be prompted to undergo a short migration when updating to Lunatask 0.6 or later.

  • Your task list configuration (workflow, grouping and sort) is now stored remotely and synced to all devices

  • New icons in task list footer to indicate better what is what

  • Login and account setup flow window is now draggable

  • Improved reliability of cloud sync

  • Improved network connection status detection

Fixes

  • Fixed up/down arrow keys not working in flat grouping
