Installation
To get started, download Lunatask for your platform. You can install it either from your platform’s app store or directly from our website.
If available, we recommend starting with your platform’s store version.
macOS
Recommended: Install Lunatask from the App Store 👈
Alternatively, download Lunatask for Mac in DMG format on our downloads page.
Choose Lunatask for Mac (DMG version) if you’d like to apply for our education discount or are considering a lifetime purchase. Student discounts and lifetime licenses aren’t currently available in the App Store version.
Windows 10/11
Recommended: Install Lunatask from the Microsoft Store 👈
Alternatively, download the installer directly from our downloads page.
As of June 2023 (Lunatask v1.7), Lunatask no longer supports Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Linux
Recommended: We strongly recommend installing Lunatask using Snapcraft, either via their store app or via terminal by running:
$ snap install lunatask
Snapcraft comes preinstalled on some Linux distributions (such as Ubuntu and most of its variations, or Manjaro), but can be easily installed on others (like Debian, Fedora, Mint, Arch, etc) as well – follow the guide for your specific Linux distribution here.
Alternatively, you can use our AppImage version available on our downloads page.
Flatpak support is likely coming eventually. If you’re interested in this feature, please add your vote for it on our Idea Portal 🙏
ChromeOS
Use the AppImage version of Lunatask for Linux on x86-based Chromebooks.
Running AppImages on ChromeOS may require a bit of setup. If needed, ask ChatGPT for help – it’ll guide you through the nuances and potential issues you may encounter.
Lunatask isn’t yet available for ARM-based Chromebooks. If you’d like to see ARM support for Linux-based systems implemented, please add your vote for the feature on our Idea Portal 🙏
iOS
Get Lunatask for iOS on the App Store 👈
Lunatask uses argon2 key derivation function for password hashing as part of our encryption toolchain, implemented in WebAssembly.
If you’re using Lockdown Mode on iOS, please add an app exception in Settings → Privacy & Security → Lockdown Mode → Configure Web Browsing.
Android
Get Lunatask for Android on the Play Store 👈
Due to constraints on our development capacity and other priorities, we can officially support only Google’s Android platform at the moment.
While the app may be available through alternative stores (such as Aurora Store) and runs on most alternative Android distributions (such as GrapheneOS), this is on a best-effort basis.
Direct APK distribution isn’t available at the moment, but we’re considering adding our own direct APK distribution channel for use with tools such as Obtainium in the future – it’s definitely on our radar.
Lunatask uses argon2 key derivation function for password hashing as part of our encryption toolchain, implemented in WebAssembly.
If you’re using GrapheneOS, please enable JIT for Lunatask in Settings → Apps → Lunatask → Exploit protection compatibility mode.
Push notifications are delivered via FCM and therefore require Google Play Services enabled.
Web version
We don’t offer a web app yet as we’re currently focusing on building and improving our native apps to bring them up to the level they need to be.
While we currently don’t offer a web version, we’ve compiled several creative workarounds on our Idea Portal, so make sure to check them out, as some may work for you.
